Honors Trip To Berkeley or Stanford. The honors trip is a wonderful reward for students who have worked very hard over the 3 years at Magnolia and maintained a 3.5 GPA in addition to being on the honor roll every trimester for all three years. . Bus transportation is provided, and students are asked to bring money for lunch, dinner and souvenirs.
Sunsplash
The 8th grade year-end picnic is usually held the week before school is out at Sunsplash, in Rocklin. All 8th grade students in good standing are invited for a day of fun in the sun, with full access to all the facilities at Sunsplash including the water slides and swimming pool. Students leave Magnolia at 9:30 a.m. by school bus and return to Magnolia about 2:45 p.m. Students should bring appropriate swimwear and towels. The Sunsplash permission form must be completed, signed and returned with fee to your first period teacher the Friday before the trip.
8th Grade Promotion Dance
Student Council and Parents Club join together to host a Graduation Dance exclusively for our 8th grade students. The 8th Grade Promotion Dance will be held in the Magnolia Gym. All 8th graders in good standing are invited to come and enjoy the music, dancing, activities, door prizes and refreshments all at no charge. Permission slips are still required for all those attending.
On Thursday, the last week of school we will honor our 8th grade students as they end their tenure at Magnolia and prepare to move on to High School. The promotion ceremony is held early evening and friends and family are encouraged to join us for this special ceremony. We advise that you arrive early to ensure that you have time to park and find seating for your party. Lifetouch will be on site to take graduate photos and DVD's of the ceremony will also be available through the Rattler PIT. In addition to recognizing our valedictorians, students who have achieved straight A's for all 3 years, we will also be presenting a number of other awards for academic achievement as well as perfect attendance.
Students must adhere to the school dress code for the 8th Grade Promotion.
New York - Washington DC 8th Grade Trip
New York - Washington DC 8th Grade Trip Each summer 150 or more Magnolia students travel to Washington D.C. and New York City for the adventure of a life-time. Mr. Croft has been taking eighth graders and parents back to the Big Apple and our nation’s Capitol for over twenty years! Parents are welcome to enjoy the trip, since the chaperoning duties are left to the Magnolia staff members.
The group visits our Nation’s Capitol, Mount Vernon, the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, enjoys the wonders of a Broadway show, and much more. And the best part is that EVERYTHING is included: meals, hotels, travel, professional tour guides, admission to the Broadway show, everything except souvenirs. The New York/Washington DC trip is a deep educational experience, a way in which eighth graders and parents are able to touch and see history and not simply read about it in the books.
There are many fund-raisers available to assist families with the cost of the trip. Some students have paid for their entire trip through the fund-raisers. An informational meeting is held at the beginning of each year for parents to learn more about the trip.
