There are few things at Magnolia that the students look forward to more than the dances.
Dances are held about once every month or two throughout the year and are sponsored by various groups on campus including Student Council, Choir, Band, ASP, Wrestling and Parent's Club. Each dance has it's own theme where students typically earn extra raffle tickets for wearing something in theme. In addition to great music and fun contests, dances usually include a raffle with lots of great prizes. Many dances also offer souvenir photos and snack bars serving cold drinks and snacks and sometimes pizza as well. The dances are well supervised and very fun. Many kids dance in groups or just hang out and talk with their friends. Attending dances is a 7th and 8th grade privilege and is only available to students in good standing.
Students who wish to attend a dance must bring a signed permission slip the week before the dance to purchase their ticket. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Students must purchase their tickets no later than lunchtime on the day of the dance. Dance Tickets cost $5 per admission and most dances also offer a package deal for $10 that includes your admission, pizza, drink and either candy or a souvenir photo. Most dances are Friday night from 7:00 -9:00 pm.
In June of each year there is also a special Graduation Dance which is hosted by Student Council and Parents' Club. Admission to the dance is free for all 8th graders in good standing.
