Each year the P.E. department holds the annual Frank Springer Memorial track and field meet at BRHS for all 7th and 8th grade students on Friday the week prior to Memorial Day Weekend. This is a culminating event that our P.E. classes prepare for over the course of about 3 weeks as they learn about various track and field events. Each student is responsible for participating in the 3 events they have chosen as part of their PE grade.
Students arrive to Magnolia dressed in their P.E. uniform and shoes ready for the track meet. After roll call in 1st period, they will be escorted to the high school. The meet will begin at 9:30 and continue until 2:50. We will return to Magnolia for lunch and at the conclusion of the meet. Students may bring a sack lunch or purchase their hot lunch as usual.
A snack bar will also be available at the track.
It is a good idea for students to bring the following items to the meet: water, sunscreen, hats, visors, and inhalers (if needed). EZ ups are permitted (no tents) to be set up on the soccer field behind the grand stands as it often gets warm.
Parent volunteers are invited to walk around and help supervise during the day. It is a fun way to interact with the students and join in the fun of this event.
